Seminar:- Simulations from Galaxies to the Interstellar Medium
Cosmological galaxy simulations are indispensable tools for understanding galaxies and cosmology. They start from initial density inhomogeneities, which collapse gravitationally, forming dark matter halos and galaxies. To reproduce realistic galactic properties, recent simulations incorporate comprehensive processes, including gravity, gas cooling, stellar feedback, radiation, and cosmic rays. The speaker will present results they learn from these simulations. He will discuss recent efforts towards the next generation of galaxy simulations, including a more efficient code and a more accurate understanding of the interstellar medium.
