《自黑洞搖鈴偵測重力波》研討會

Seminar:- Detection of gravitational waves from black hole ringing

The fourth observation run of LIGO, Virgo and KAGRA began in May of 2023, offering an exciting opportunity for gravitational-wave astronomy. the speaker will briefly highlight a couple of discoveries in the past few years. Then he’ll discuss the gravitational wave from black hole ringdown. According to the no-hair theorem, the frequency is uniquely determined by the black hole mass and spin. Due to its analogy to atomic spectroscopy, this is often known as black hole spectroscopy. he'll present his recent works, where his team reports the detection of higher-order fundamental mode and overtone, respectively, from ringdown. These observations suggest black hole spectroscopy is a promising way to test general relativity.
