Multimessenger Astronomy: Bridging Transients, Lensing, and Dark Matter (Cosmic Frontiers)
Background: Dark matter, a fundamental yet enigmatic component of the universe, influences the dynamics of galaxies and galaxy clusters through its gravitational effects. However, its precise nature remains a mystery. Multimessenger transient observations offer a novel approach by combining gravitational wave signals and electromagnetic emissions from transient events. This convergence of messengers holds the promise of shedding light on the distribution and characteristics of dark matter within galaxies.
Frontiers Ahead: The ever-improving and future gravitational-wave detectors, upcoming electromagnetic instruments, and the recently launched Euclid are poised to usher in a new era of multimessenger observations. These instruments will enhance our detection capabilities, enabling more precise and comprehensive multimessenger studies. The workshop serves as an essential platform for delving into the intricate interplay between tools, methodologies, and collaborative frameworks that define our evolving field.
