Seminar:- Exploring Nature with Black Holes and Gravitational Waves
In this talk, we will explore the exciting world of black holes and gravitational waves and their role in our understanding of the universe. First predicted by Einstein’s theory of general relativity over 100 years ago, the detection of gravitational waves by the Laser Interferometer Gravitational-Wave Observatory(LIGO) in 2015 and the first-ever image of a black hole captured by the Event Horizon Telescope(EHT) in 2019 have ushered in a new era of astrophysics. We will discuss how black holes and gravitational waves allow us to probe gravity in the uncharted strong-field regime and the behavior of matter under extreme conditions. The speaker will elaborate on how his research capitalizes on these compelling objects as modern and effective tools to study the laws of nature.
