Trans-Planckian Censorship, Breakdown of Effective Field Theory and Emergent Cosmology

The speaker will argue that effective point particle field theory will inevitably break down in a rapidly expanding universe. Hence, a non-perturbative formalism is required to understand the very early universe. A new approach based on matrix theory(a proposed non-perturbative definition of string theory) will be discussed, which yields an “emergent” cosmology.

“Copernicus Webinar and Colloquium Series”: To promote scientific discussions during this pandemic, they are organizing an online seminar series, i.e. Copernicus Webinar Series, seeking the most outstanding speakers to introduce innovative ideas and important progress in the field of gravity and cosmology. This series is named after the famous Polish Astronomer, Nicolaus Copernicus, whose discovery eventually marked the dawn of modern science.
