During a manned mission to Mars, astronaut Mark Watney(Matt Damon) is presumed dead and left behind, so he finds himself stranded on a very hostile planet. With only meager supplies, he draws upon his ingenuity, wit and spirit to survive and finds a way to signal to Earth that he is alive. From fifty million miles away, NASA and a team of international scientists work together to bring “the Martian” home.
