Seminar:- Learning from The Last Few Mili-Seconds of Binary Black Hole Mergers
After two black holes merge, the highly distorted remnant black hole settles to a Kerr black hole emitting ringdown gravitational-waves. During these few miliseconds, gravity reaches its strongest regime, enabling us to study fundamental properties that cannot be otherwise accessed. In this talk the speaker will discuss what can we learn from the ringdown radiation of remnant black holes: from testing the no-hair theorem, to exploring the shape of the final horizon itself.
