Seminar:- From Hadrons to Quark-Gluon Plasma: A Guided Tour
In this talk the speaker will review some recent theoretical and experimental efforts to understand the strongly interacting matter that is produced in the heavy ion collisions, and may have filled the early universe and the core of neutron stars.
The speaker will introduce the basic ideas of confinement and spontaneous chiral symmetry breaking, and summarize what one can learn from the lattice QCD calculations. Some simple models of QCD phases will also be discussed: the Hadron Resonance Gas model for the hadronic phase, and the quasi-particle picture for the QGP phase. Finally, how a detailed study of the QCD equation of state may impact some astrophysical processes is examined.
