Seminar:- Cosmology from Cosmic Microwave Background Polarization
Precise cosmological experiments have established the fundamental framework of the Universe. At the same time, the observations have found many mysteries in cosmology (e.g. dark energy, dark matter). The ultimate goal of the speaker is to uncover physical laws that govern the origin and evolution of the Universe. He has been addressing the fundamental questions by analyzing real data, developing methods for data analysis, and proposing new cosmological probes to further tackle the questions.
His plan in at HKUST is to deepen our understanding of the universe through measurements of cosmic microwave background (CMB) polarization. To realize this, the speaker will work with people in ongoing/future CMB experiments such as BICEP/Keck Array, LiteBIRD and CMB-S4 to extract implications for theory from data. He will also investigate what we can probe by combining CMB and other data such as galaxy clustering and weak gravitational lensing.
