Seminar:- Antares Code and Its Application to Galactic/Protoplanetary Disks
As a direct consequence of the conservation of angular momentum and efficient radiative cooling, in the universe thin disks form naturally. The most convenient experimental test-beds for disk dynamics are numerical calculations. The Antares code is a high-performance CFD-MHD code developed for astrophysics. In this talk, The speaker will brief the development and features of the code, and its applications. Direct comparisons between numerical results and observational data deepen our understanding about non-linear gas behaviors in galactic/protoplanetary disks. In this talk, some interesting structures (spiral arms, spiral shocks, dust lanes, circumnuclear rings, circumstellar disks, AGN) associated with barred and spiral galaxies will be quickly reviewed. The co-evolution of protoplanetary disks and circumplanetary disks will be also briefly discussed.
