Gravitational Waves, Black Holes and the LIGO Discovery
People around the world cheered last Thursday morning (Feb. 11) when scientists announced the first direct detection of gravitational waves — ripples in the fabric of space-time whose existence was first proposed by Albert Einstein, in 1916. What are gravitational waves? What are black holes? The speaker will introduce to you about LIGO's recent discovery of gravitational waves. With this discovery, astronomy enters a new era. The speaker will explain deep physics knowledge in an interesting way so that audience without physics background can easily understand.
