我們宇宙的本性

Public Lecture: Our Cosmic Selves
The cosmos may seem remote and untouchable, irrelevant as we go about our daily lives. But in fact we are connected to the universe at large, and influenced by it, in umpteen and fundamental ways. The iron in our blood, the calcium in our bones and the oxygen we breathe were cooked inside stars that lived and died long ago. Meteorites that fell from space likely delivered water and organic molecules to the early Earth. Today’s technological civilization is vulnerable to solar storms and asteroid impacts. This talk will explore the deep and enduring links between the cosmos and us, and how our cosmic explorations provide a new perspective on ourselves, our planet, and our place in the universe.
